Dylan Moreno started in the decathlon at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium today as the Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team began its 2026 season today.
The 100 meters, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400 meters were contested today in the multi-event. The 110-meter hurdles, discus throw, pole vault, javelin throw and 1500 meters will be held tomorrow.
Through five events, Moreno is in eighth place with a 2999 score, and Kropiwnicki is right behind him in ninth place at 2976 points. Moreno was fifth in the 13-man field with his 10.91m (35'9 ½") shot put, which is his outdoor PR. The 52.71 he ran in the 400 meters final event of Thursday was in the middle of the pack. Kropiwnicki was second out of the 13 competitors at 6.37m (20'10 ¾") in the long jump. His time of 11.56 seconds for the 100 meters scored 740 points.
Matthew Muthler, an unattached competitor, leads the decathlon through Thursday with a 3761 score.
Along with finishing the decathlon tomorrow, Tufts will have entries in the 100 meters, 110-meter hurdles, javelin throw and long jump. The meet continues through Saturday.
