MYRTLE BEACH, SC (March 20, 2026) – Senior
Randy Hamilton earned the #2 ranking for the javelin throw in Tufts University men's outdoor track & field history today at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational. Junior
Ryder Kropiwnicki and sophomore
Dylan Moreno also scored well in the decathlon as the Jumbos competed at the outdoor-season opening meet for the second day.
Hamilton recorded a 61.80m (202'9") mark in the javelin, which is second only to Henry Hintermeiser who has the school record of 61.85m (202'11") from 2019. Hamilton's mark also places highly in the early Division III outdoor rankings. He was fifth among 50 competitors in the meet, many from Division I.
Kropiwnicki and Moreno had the fourth and fifth best point totals, respectively, out of 13 original entries in the decathlon which ended on Friday. Kropiwnicki scored 5692 points while Moreno compiled a 5329 total. Due to the top two point scorers being unattached, for team points Kropiwnick placed second and Moreno was third.
In his first-ever decathlon, Kropiwnicki was among the top five finishers in four of the five events on Friday. His best marks were a time of 15.56 seconds in the 110-meter hurdles and a 49.89m (163'8") distance in the javelin throw. Both were second-best in the decathlon field, and were top 25 early-season national marks for those events overall. Moreno ran a 4:55.52 in the 1500 meters that was second in the event, and also had a 38.12m (125'0") PR in the javelin throw.
This Tufts trio combined to score 18 team points today, which is tied for fifth place out of 35 teams at the meet through eight events.
