Thirteen in Action for Men's Track & Field at Pair of Meets on Saturday

MYRTLE BEACH, SC / MIDDLETOWN, CT (March 21, 2026) – The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team had 13 individuals in action at a pair of meets on Saturday. Tufts finished its stay at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in South Carolina, and also had a small group competing at the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic at Wesleyan University.

On Tufts' third day in South Carolina, the team had four entries in the triple jump. Sophomore Luke Benson went 14.08m (46'2 ½") for 13th place in a 50-man field of competitors. It's a strong national mark early in the season. Sophomore Seneca Wallace posted his PR in the event, a 14.01m (45'11 ¾") that put him into Tufts' all-time top 10 and is a strong early-season ranking. Wallace was 15th in the event, and right behind him in 16th was freshman Collett Kinobe at 13.94m (45'9") for another strong early season attempt. Freshman Jaival Kang hit 13.04m (42'9 ½") which also has top 50 potential.

Senior Cam McLeod led three Jumbos in the first 400-meter hurdles event of the season. His time of 54.59 seconds was second out of 49 individuals in the event, and is a top national mark very early in the outdoor season. The runner-up finish scores eight team points for Tufts. Freshmen Jonathan Bailey (57.21) and Eliot Monick (58.32) also had good debut times in the event.

Freshman Tieren Mead also debuted in the outdoor high jump today. His 1.93m (6'4") best mark tied for 12th place and is a top early Division III height.

At Wesleyan, junior Matthew Asaeda doubled in the hammer throw and the discus throw. His 46.96m (154'1") hammer throw was fourth out of 31 entries in the event. The mark was his PR. Asaeda was also 14th in the discus throw, a 37.32m (122'5") mark.

Sophomores Evan Hankins and Liam Lucas both finished sixth in their races today. Hankins ran 1:59.83 in the 800 meters, while Lucas' 4:08.94 time came in the 1500 meters. They were at the front of events that had 27 individuals finish in the 800 and 41 in the 1500.

Junior Nahom Tsegaye also competed in the throws today at Wesleyan. He was 18th in both events, throwing 11.92m (39'1 ¼") in the shot put and 36.76m (120'7") in the discus.

Tufts finished 13th out of 35 teams at the Shamrock meet, scoring 26 team points. The Wesleyan event did not include team scoring.

On the schedule next week, Tufts has the WashU Distance Carnival (Thursday) and Bryant University's Black and Gold Invitational (Friday and Saturday).
