MEDFORD, MA (April 14, 2026) – The Tufts University women's sailing team has earned its second straight berth into the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) Women's Team Race National Championship.
Early Tuesday evening, the five-person national selection committee announced six at-large berths (including Tufts) that will join six conference champions for a total of 12 teams competing at the fifth annual national women's team race regatta April 26-27. Tulane University will host the Championship out of the Libby and Robert Alexander Community Sailing Center, located at West End Park in New Orleans on Lake Pontchartrain.
The teams winning conference titles to receive automatic berths into Nationals were College of Charleston, Cornell, Michigan, Stanford, Tulane and Yale. Joining Tufts as at-large selections are Brown, Bowdoin, Dartmouth, Harvard and Roger Williams.
The National Championship Selection Committee awarded the at-large berths based on team performances throughout the spring season. All six at-large teams come from the New England Intercollegiate Sailing Association – regarded as the strongest conference in the nation. At the New England Team Race Championship, where the Legler Trophy is presented in honor of legendary former Tufts coach Ken Legler, Yale was first, Brown was second, Tufts was third, Harvard was fourth, Dartmouth was fifth, Bowdoin was sixth and Roger Williams was seventh.
The Jumbos had other strong showings this spring at the Harvard Team Race (fourth), at Navy's Jen Harris Team Race (fifth), at the Southern New England Team Race hosted by Connecticut College (fifth) and at their own Duplin Trophy Team Race (third).

The ICSA Women's Team Race National Championship began in 2022. In their first time qualifying last year, Tufts finished in 11th place.
