AZUSA, CA / CAMBRIDGE, MA – Eight Jumbos were in action on Friday as the Tufts men's outdoor track & field team competed at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California, as well as at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational.
Junior
Sam Kurian ran his PR in the 800 meters with a 1:52.23 mark at the Bryan Clay Invitational held at Azusa Pacific University. The team's season-best time, he earned a spot in the national top 20 and moves up to #6 all-time at Tufts. Junior
Meba Henok was also in the event and ran a time of 1:54.35.
Senior
Cullen McCaleb and junior
Jonah Reisner had solid finishes in the 5000 meters Open A event on Friday night. Reisner had the team's season-best mark of 14:31.80, which is a top 40 national time. McCaleb's 14:34.65 in just the second 5000 of his career earned him a #7 ranking at Tufts and a top 50 mark in Division III.
Freshman
Tieren Mead competed in the high jump for the second straight day on Friday. After yesterday's event at the Pacific Coast Invitational, Mead today recorded his outdoor season-best of 1.98m (6'6") at the Bryan Clay meet. The team's best mark of the season, it's also a national top 50 effort as of early Friday evening.
Also competing for the second straight day was freshman
Jack Davis. After running a 10.65 season-best time in the 100 meters yesterday at Long Beach State University, he ran another 100 today at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational. His time of 10.71 seconds in the heats did not qualify for the final in the event.
On Distance Night at the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT, senior Will Cusato ran a 1500 meters PR of 3:55.22 to place 14th at the meet. Senior
Calvin Cummings was in the 3000-meter steeplechase event at MIT and had a 9:58.04 time.
Tufts will have entries at the same two meets again on Saturday.
