PERFORMANCE LIST
Tufts won three consecutive conference titles from 2022 to 2024 before finishing third last year. The Jumbos will look to take it back this weekend against conference competition that includes four teams that are among the top 40 in this week's national TFRI rankings.
The NESCAC Championships will be a two-day competition for the first time since 2002. On Saturday, the field events begin at 1 PM, and the track events start at 2 PM. On Sunday, both track and field events are scheduled to start at 11 AM.
Senior
Josh Wilkie leads the Jumbos as the #1 seed in the 110-meter hurdles. His time of 14.28 seconds for the event is tops in NESCAC and eighth nationally.
Also the second seed for the 400-meter hurdles event (52.39), Wilkie and junior
Randy Hamilton, who is second in the javelin throw (62.78m – 206'0") this weekend, are the two Jumbos with NESCAC titles to their names. Both won in 2024, with Wilkie taking the 110-meter hurdles and Hamilton winning the javelin. Wilkie was also the anchor of the 4x100-meter relay that won in 2014 with a NESCAC record time of 41.32 seconds.
The Jumbos will look to score big in the distance events, where they have three of the top five seeds in the 5000 meters and four of the top six in the 10,000 meters. Junior
Jonah Reisner and freshman
Ben Hester are Tufts' top two seeds in the events, with Reisner's 14:31.80 in the 5000 and Hester's 31:09.96 for the 10,000 both second in the conference. Freshman Will Burch supports classmate Hester in the 10K as the #3 seed (31:10.96).
Among other Jumbo runners who are top-three seeds at the NESCAC meet, freshman
Jack Davis is #2 for the 200 meters (21.31). In the middle distances, junior
Sam Kurian is third in the 800 meters (1:52.23) and senior
Quinn Hampson is #3 for the 1500 meters (3:49.73).
Tufts has handful of the top-three seeds in field events. Freshman high jumper
Tieren Mead's 1.98m (6'6") mark is #2, while sophomore
Luke Benson has the second-best triple jump in NESCAC this season with a 14.08m (46'2 ½") distance. Freshman
Seneca Wallace is third in the triple (14.01m – 45'11 ¾"), where Tufts has four of the top seven seeds. Freshman
Jonas Michael is third as well in the pole vault at 4.67m (15'3 ¾"). Joining Hamilton as a high seed in the throwing events is senior
Tre Williams' second-ranked shot put mark of 14.01m (45'11 ¾").
The Jumbos at #17 are the highest NESCAC team in this week's NCAA TFRI rankings. Colby, Middlebury and Williams also have top 40 team rankings. Middlebury College is the defending conference champion on the men's side.
As is usual at important team-scoring meets like this, the Jumbos' depth will be significant. They have several others looking to earn scoring positions (top eight), as the team has a total of 36 top-eight seeds on the performance list. All-Conference awards go to the top three in each event.
