WILLIAMSTOWN, MA (April 26, 2026) – The Tufts University men's outdoor track & field team won four titles and finished a close second at the 2026 New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Championships, which concluded today at Williams College.
Individual conference championships were won on Sunday by Jumbos
Randy Hamilton,
Quinn Hampson and
Josh Wilkie, while the Jumbos also closed the meet by winning the 4x800-meter relay.
The two-day meet came down to a three-team competition on Sunday among Tufts, Amherst College and Middlebury College. The Mammoths pulled away at the end and finished with a 159 team score, just ahead of the Jumbos at 154 and the Panthers placing third (141).
Hamilton won his second NESCAC javelin throw title today, including 2024, with a 63.77m (209'3") mark that improved upon his own school record. The distance moved him up to #9 in Division III as of Sunday afternoon. Freshman
Tieren Mead also scored in the javelin, finishing eighth with his 50.15m (164'6") mark.
Wilkie also earned his second individual NESCAC title today, taking the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.47 seconds in today's final. Also the 2024 champion in the event, his time today was just shy of the meet record (14.46). Freshman
Jonathan Bailey added fifth-place points with a 14.92 PR in the 110 hurdles, which stands him sixth at Tufts all-time outdoors.
Hampson is the first NESCAC 1500 meters champion from Tufts in 10 years, since Mitchell Black won the event in 2016. Hampson's 3:50.03 winning time today was joined by
Cullen McCaleb's fifth-place mark of 3:51.37 that is his PR, ranks him sixth at Tufts and is a top 30 national ranking as of Sunday afternoon. Like in the 110-meter hurdles, the Jumbos scored 14 team points in the 1500.
Running Tufts' first 4x8 of the season,
Meba Henok,
Liam Lucas,
Charlie Jacques and
Sam Kurian won with a 7:39.54 time. It's the first Jumbo 4x8 title since the event became part of the NESCAC Championships in 2014.
Wilkie was also the conference runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles today, running a PR of 52.26 seconds. The time ranks #3 nationally as of Sunday afternoon, and puts Wilkie fourth on Tufts' all-time list in the event.
Cam McLeod also ran a PR of 52.84 seconds that was fourth at the meet, ranks him sixth all-time at Tufts and is a top 15 national mark.
Freshman
Jack Davis made a strong debut at the NESCAC Championships today. He was the runner-up in the 200 meters with a time of 21.44 seconds, and also placed fourth in the 100-meter dash at 10.78 seconds.
Harris Gulbransen was the runner-up in the 5000 meters on Sunday, leading three top-eight finishers from Tufts in the event. His 14:34.33 mark is his outdoor PR in the event and puts him at #7 all-time at Tufts. He was followed by
Jonah Reisner in sixth place (14:41.65) and
Amokrane Aouchiche in eighth (14:44.57) as the Jumbos scored 12 team points in the 5K.
The Jumbo 4x400-meter relay ran a strong race, placing third with a 3:14.08 time that is third-best in Tufts outdoor history and in the top 15 nationally. The foursome was Wilkie, McLeod,
Brady Kamali and
Tejus Verma. Tufts' 4x100-meter relay of
Charlie Fitzpatrick, Davis,
Zachary Tang and
Konstantinos Stamatakos was sixth at the meet with a time of 41.90 seconds that is #7 all-time outdoors at Tufts.
Luke Benson recorded his season-best mark in the triple jump, a 14.16m distance (46'5 ½") that was fourth in the conference and is a top 50 DIII mark. Sophomore
Seneca Wallace contributed an eighth-place mark of 13.74m (45'1").
Also leading Tufts today was
Gabe Grove in the 3000-meter steeplechase, where he was 11th with a 9:34.87 PR, and
Nahom Tsegaye, who was 15th in the discus throw, who also had a PR of 39.25m (128'9").
Up next for the Jumbos is the New England Division III Championships to be hosted by Springfield College next Friday and Saturday (May 1-2).
