WILLIAMSTOWN / NORTH EASTON, MA (May 8, 2026) – Junior
Harris Gulbransen ran the second-fastest 10,000 meters time in Tufts University men's track & field history on Friday night at Williams College, highlighting Tufts action as the Jumbos competed at both Williams' F.I.R.E. Meet and also at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association Championships (NEICAAA) at Stonehill College.
Gulbransen's 29:53.67 time tonight is second all-time at Tufts behind only a 29:37.09 run by Tim Nicholas in 2017. Gulbransen's mark was third in the race and ranks 19th for Division III as of Friday evening.
Tufts had a great night in the 10K overall, including strong runs by senior
Amokrane Aouchiche and junior
Aidan Max. Aouchiche, who joins Gulbransen and Nichols as the only Jumbos to run under 30:00 in the event (a 29:55.43 in 2025), tonight finished in a 30:02.80 mark that was fifth in the race and is 23rd nationally. Max's PR of 30:29.67 got him into Tufts' all-time top 10 and ranks in the top 40 for Division III.
In another solid distance performance tonight, sophomore
Gabe Grove ran his PR in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a 9:26.03 time. That was Tufts' best time for the event this season. The Jumbos had six entries in the 5000 meters at Williams and were led by freshman
Ben Hester's season-best 14:50.66 time.
Freshman
Jonas Michael and sophomore
Alejandro Rincon competed in the pole vault at Williams. Jonas placed fifth in the 19-man field with his best of 4.57m (15'0"). Rincon had a 4.42m (14'6") mark for eighth place. Senior
Tre Williams was also in the discus throw at the F.I.R.E. Meet, earning a 36.32m (120'2") mark.
At the NEICAAA meet, senior
Randy Hamilton and freshman
William Cipollone were javelin throw entries. Hamilton fouled on each of his three attempts, and Cipollone had a 48.98m (160'8") mark for 13th place.
More Jumbos will be in action at both meets on Saturday, with start times of 10 AM for each.
