Maren Jones was named as this week's New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Player of the Week, the first weekly award for the Jumbos this season and first of Jones' career.
The junior helped lead Tufts to a 1-0-2 record in three NESCAC match-ups against No. 6 Wesleyan, Connecticut College, and Trinity (Conn.). Jones collected two goals and two assists on the week, opening with a goal and a helper in a 2-0 shutout victory over No. 6 Wesleyan. In a 2-2 draw with Connecticut College, the California native notched an assist from a corner kick chance on Tufts' second goal. In the Jumbos' final match-up of the week, Jones buried a 79th minute game-tying score in a 1-1 tie against Trinity (Conn.).
The Jumbos are unbeaten so far this season as they hold a 3-0-2 overall record, while the midfielder leads the group in scoring with seven total points on two goals and three assists. The junior is tied for fourth in the NESCAC with her three assists and is tied for fifth in shots on goal with seven.
The Jumbos next contest will take place on the road as they will take a short trip to Cambridge, MA for a non-conference match-up against MIT on Friday at 6 PM.
