MEDFORD, MA (February 22, 2023) – Thirteen members of the Tufts University women's swimming team have been invited to compete at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships coming up March 15-18 in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Student-athletes qualified for the swimming portion of the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers will be determined by performances achieved at the regional diving meets February 24-25. The complete list of all swimmers competing in the championships is available at
www.usaswimming.org/ncaa. Selected divers will be added to the website Monday, February 27.
For the Jumbos, the 13 swimmers will compete in 14 events at the NCAA meet. The Tufts qualifiers are led by the senior group of
Claire Brennan (100 free, 200 free, 500 free, 400 medley relay, 800 free relay),
Chloe Deveney (800 free relay),
Katelin Isakoff (200 free, 500 free, 400 free relay and 800 free relay),
Elle Morse (100 free, 200 free relay, 400 relay) and
Katelin Ulmer (50 free, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay).
The Jumbo juniors who will compete at NCAA's are
Jillian Cudney (50 free, 200 free relay) and
Sahar Mumtaz (1650 free). Sophomore
Lara Wujciak is entered in the 200 butterfly. The five first-years who will make the trip to North Carolina representing Tufts are
Madeleine Dunn (500 free, 1650 free),
Jade Foltenyi (200 medley relay),
Maddie Hagberg (200 backstroke, 400 medley relay),
Lily Klinginsmith (100 butterfly, 100 free, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 400 medley relay, 800 free relay) and
Quinci Wheeler (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay).
In addition to the qualifiers, Tufts sophomore
Cierra McCarty was named as an alternate for the 1650 freestyle.
The Jumbos were seventh at the NCAA meet last year when Brennan won the 200 freestyle national championship and then along with Isakoff was part of Tufts' 800 freestyle relay national championship.
