MEDFORD, MA (March 7, 2023) - Thirteen members of head coach
Joel Williams' Tufts University men's indoor track & field roster today received All-East Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). Recipients achieved the All-Region accolades with a top-five ranking in an individual event and/or a top three relay ranking in the region for the 2022-23 season.
Senior
Alex Lemieux and junior
Luke Botsford achieved All-Region in multiple events. Botsford had New England's top time in the 400 (48.00 converted time, henceforth noted with #) and was second for the 200 (21.81). He also helped the 4x400-meter relay run the region's fastest mark (3:17.24#) and the distance medley relay (DMR) rank second with a 9:55.44#. Also part of the 4x4 among his three All-Region awards, Lemieux was second in the 60-meter dash (6.90) and was also honored for being fourth in the 200 meters (21.99).
Junior
Chris Tilton and sophomore
Noah Turner were also All-Region winners for the 4x4, while sophomore
Ivan Appleton, senior
Evan Ensslin and senior
Sawyer Wilson earned the recognition for the DMR.
Tufts had two All-Region recipients in the high jump. Junior
Harry Rienecker-Found was #2 in the East (2.04m - 6'8 1/4") while sophomore
Karsten Kropp was third at 2.00m (6'6 3/4"). Also in the jumps, senior
Drew Svoboda ranked fourth with a 6.92m (22'8 1/2") season-best.
Senior
Carter Rosewell's 4768 point total in the heptathlon was the top score regionally. The Jumbos also had two freshmen honored, withÂ
Sahr Matturi fourth in the triple jump (13.52m - 44'4 1/4") and
Josh Wilkie earning the #4 time of 8.25 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.
Botsford in the 400 and Rienecker-Found in the high jump qualified for NCAA's and will compete in North Carolina this weekend.
