Hockey's Durand, Sedlak Semifinalists For The Joe Concannon Award

MEDFORD, MA (February 8, 2024) - Senior goalie Peyton Durand and junior forward Tyler Sedlak of the Tufts University hockey team have been named semifinalists for the Joe Concannon Award recognizing the best American-born player in New England at the D-II/III level.

The Joe Concannon Award was established in 2001 shortly after the passing of the longtime writer for The Boston Globe, who had a great passion for the game of college hockey while always advocating strongly for amateur athletics.

Head coach Pat Norton's Jumbos are enjoying a strong 2023-24 season led by these two players. Tufts is 11-7-2 overall - its most victories since the 2016-17 season - and is currently third in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) with an 8-5-1 mark.

Durand ranks eighth in Division III hockey with a .943 save percentage in 18 games. He's also in the national top 20 with his 1.88 goals against average. He's made 566 saves, which leads the NESCAC.

Sedlak is third in the conference with 20 points on nine goals and 11 assists this season (7-6-13 in 11 NESCAC games). His nine goals overall are tied for third in NESCAC. He's also one of the top +/- players in the league with a +12 mark.

The Gridiron Club will announce the finalists and winner of the 23rd Joe Concannon Award in March, following league playoffs and before the start of the NCAA Frozen Four on March 22 & 24 on the campus of Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
