MEDFORD, MA (May 7, 2025) - The Tufts University men's tennis team earned a number of postseason awards following their 20-2 campaign as
Vuk Vuksanovic was named the New England Small College Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year, the Tufts coaching staff was named NESCAC Staff of the Year and two other Jumbos picked up All-NESCAC honors.
Vuksanovic played to a 14-2 singles record so far this season, and has been an immovable object among the unstoppable force of the Tufts tennis squad. The five-time All-NESCAC winner enters the NCAA Tournament as winner of 11 straight singles matches. He becomes only the second Jumbo ever to be named NESCAC Player of the Year, joining the 2021 NESCAC Player of the Year Boris Sorkin in the prestigious honors. The senior also played to a 15-3 doubles record to lead the Jumbos as they enter national play.Â
Vuksanovic's doubles partner, junior
Javier Gonzalez also earned All-NESCAC First Team honors. His second All-NESCAC award comes after a 12-3 singles record and 16-4 doubles record.Â
Senior
Derin Acaroglu is the final Jumbo to earn All-Conference honors, landing on the All-NESCAC Second Team. He finished the regular season with a 10-5 singles record and a 13-7 doubles record. His efforts from the number three position in both doubles and singles helped Tufts to a top seed in the NESCAC Tournament.
The Tufts coaching staff was named the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second time in four years. The core staff of
Karl Gregor,
Omar El Kheshen,
Adham Gaber and
Jamie Cerretani helped guide their talented group of players to a top seed in the NESCAC Tournament and their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in a row.Â
The Jumbos will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament as they prepare for the second round against the winner of the Rhode Island versus Goucher match in the first round. Tufts will play on Saturday at 10:00 am against either the Anchormen or the Gophers.
